The first couch that helps combat the children’s sedentary lifestyle
A magic sofa…
It has a central role in the house. Your family spends (too) many hours sitting on the couch during the day. In 2020 and in spite of lockdown, this beloved piece of furniture gets NERF-revolutionized with a new objective: awakening both body and mind to encourage children to move more.
With a sense of humor, this couch raises awareness in the evolution of our ways of living at a time where each of us spends on average 7.30 hours seated every day… A counter-design couch!
…that helps combat a sedentary lifestyle
Often described as the evil of the century, physical inactivity has justifiably been presented by doctors as a genuine “time bomb for children”.
These behavioral tendencies have an impact on the health of those future adults: while it’s recommended to remain active for at least 60 minutes per day, less than 50% of children achieve these recommendations.
To help raise awareness about this problem, NERF encourages children and families to start moving more through humor and creativity, with the first couch that helps combat the lack of physical activity.
Physical inactivity in numbers
Among key numbers, a recent Australian study has shown a link between the decrease of physical activity, and the increase of the time spent in front of screens. In 1971, a child could run 800 meters in 3 minutes. Today, the average time for the same distance is 4 minutes.
One extra minute may not seem significant, but it truly emphasizes a loss of stamina in children! This is one of the most notable factors showing a degradation in cardio-vascular health.
